A 1937 to mid 50s vintage GEIB Arch Kraft 18 chipboard guitar case in very good overall condition for its age. A good period correct case to match up with a vintage guitar. This is for a large 17-18 archtop or Jumbo sized guitar. Case has a arched contoured top. Fiberboard/cardboard with a brown Keratol covering, red plush ( worn ) interior lining. Compartment and metal badge are in good shape. Leather handle, 4 closures and 3 metal hinges. 6” deep at the tail, 4 3/4”at the headstock. Has 90%+ of original stitching on the seams. This Chicago based company made many cases for Gibson and Martin guitars among other manufacturers. I cant date the case clearly, but the 1937 name change and adding metal badges give you a beginning date. The hinges are good, all four latches work. The inside compartment cover has a GEIB Arch Kraft medallion. Some wear to the leather binding, but no wear through points. The handle is leather bound and solidly mounted. All the inside hardware are still covered and in very good condition. No splits or tears in the top, lower case, side, rims, hinges or latches. The case has survived its 75-80 years in very good condition. INSIDE DIMENSIONS Length 43 1/2 front shoulder 13 rear shoulder 18 depth 4 3/4 neck and body joint, 6 at the tail block It may not fit a guitar with larger tuners with Keystone / tulip buttons on the headstock.
